An Exploration of Death and Remembrance in the Digital Age
An Exploration of Death and Remembrance in the Digital Age
I wanted this exhibition to explore how technology has changed our understanding of death and remembrance. To humans, mortality was always the one guaranteed thing about life but that has changed. Social media memorial pages, AI chatbots trained on personal data, AI generated images and videos and the digital archives that allow people to still remain active in the lives of others after passing. The exhibition will have artworks, installations, and case studies that examine the tension and comfort that comes when mixing afterlife with technology.

Research
The project began with research into contemporary technological approaches to death and remembrance: AI resurrection technology, digital legacy planning, social media memorialization policies, and the ethical implications of digital immortality. This research revealed a cultural tension, while technology offers new forms of comfort and connection to the deceased, it also raises questions about consent, grief, and the boundaries between remembrance and resurrection.
